The Banquet is a non-denominational meal outreach housed at Trinity Lutheran Church that began in the spring of 2005 under the guidance of Pastor Steve Sathre of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the coordination and marketing efforts of our first Banquet Director, Rosemarie (Tudy) Fennern. Today, under the direction of Executive Director Karla Eisenbeisz, we serve Tuesday and Thursday evening and noontime lunch each Saturday and Sunday. We serve about 1,000 meals each week! Karla works hard to ensure those meals are nutritionally balanced too!
The Banquet is dependent on volunteer groups and individuals to operate the meal outreach. Volunteers typically come from churches, businesses, corporations, service clubs, schools and families. With the help of our dedicated volunteers we are able to take good care of our guests and make everyone feel special because they are! Our volunteers are special too. We appreciate these volunteers who donate their time to make sure our guests enjoy a free and nutritionally balanced meal.
NEW OUTREACH! Starting in June 2019 we have added another outreach. It’s the Adopt-a-Block program. We now serve low income areas of our city with a distribution truck that periodically sets up in a designated area and distributes grocery items to those in need. Coordinating with Great Plains Food Bank and local grocery stores we are working together to reach low income households, especially low income families and senior citizens.
The Banquet is thankful and grateful for the continued time and efforts of our current volunteers and groups. We look forward to supporting our new group friends in the community.
